Ms. Fox's clock didn't wake her up on time. She had to dress and eat breakfast quickly, or she would be late for work. Her car keys were missed. She looked all over the house. She turned everything upside down. At last, she found the car keys in a basket. By the time Ms. Fox got to work, she was all worn out. On her desk was a note. It said, "Please finish this work in one hour." Mr. Fox was shocked. Then she looked at her feet. She wore two different kinds of shoes.

Larks are people who are wide awake and busy right away. They may slow down in the afternoon. Larks do better work in the morning. Owls do better work in the afternoon or at night. Decide how you feel at different hours of the day. Try to save your hardest work for your best hours.

In 1759, a Belgian named Joseph Merlin was getting ready for a fantastic costume party opening in Huy. He was thinking about how to make the best appearance at the party. Then he got an idea from a pair of ice skates. He made boots with a line of metal wheels instead of a blade. Since Merlin was a great violin player, he planned to enter the room playing the violin on the skates. Merlin really surprised everyone! Because he didn't know how to stop the skates, he crashed right into a mirror on the wall! Later on, in 1863, American James Plimpton invented in-line skates.
